Our Story
How it all started…
Meet Paul and Ben, Co-Founders and Directors of Intecho.
Built on the commitment to provide clients with leading smart building technology, Intecho was formed back in 2009. Their ambition was to build a business combining Paul’s passion for innovation and Ben’s passion for technology. With a joint wealth of industry-leading experience, having previously held senior positions at organisations such as The Royal Household and Palaces and The Ministry of Defence, their mission to deliver this commitment has given us the opportunity to provide many businesses and homes with innovative and sustainable smart technology solutions.
Our Mission
To use our expertise in smart building design and create human-centric environments that implement sustainable energy reduction solutions.
Why Intecho
Intecho is a dedicated team of consultants, designers, and engineers. Together, we collaborate with architects, developers, M&E consultants, and private clients at the planning stage of a new build or renovation project to design smart technology solutions that create intelligent and energy efficient environments.
We pride ourselves on being able to offer a completely bespoke service that is tailored to your specific needs, and we will work alongside you and other professionals to deliver a seamless installation without impacting project schedules.
Meet Our Senior Team
Ben has 20 years’ experience in the building controls’ sector. His main role is to identify client needs and work with the design and consulting team to ensure we develop best-in-class solutions for clients. Ben also leads our innovations team to ensure that we find new technologies and evolve our offering. His varied experience includes world-class projects ranging from super yachts to London’s legendary Annabel’s club.
Ben likes to spend his free time with his family in the Lake District and enjoys football and Formula 1 racing.
Paul is Co-Founder and Director of Intecho. His aim 14 years ago remains just as strong now. He wanted to design and deliver exceptional smart buildings which reduced energy use and improved the quality of the internal environment.
Paul’s formative years were spent working for the Royal Household and Cabinet Office where he was responsible for estates including Balmoral and Windsor to name but a few. His passion for what he does is visible for everyone to see and he feeds off the talented staff and feedback from clients.
Oliver is an experienced entrepreneur and acknowledged business leader. He was founder and CEO of one of the largest global independent healthcare marketing businesses. Over twenty years, Oliver grew his business from a start-up to over 1,300 people across 22 office locations throughout the UK, USA, Europe and Singapore.
He has led 15 acquisitions and 4 private equity-backed management buy-outs. Oliver also has particular affinity and expertise for supporting SMEs along with a wide range of healthcare businesses.
Will joined us as an Apprentice nearly 5 years ago, having decided that a fine arts degree was not for him (he, quite literally, walked out of his first lecture and never looked back!). After his first week here at Intecho, he knew he had made the right decision. The variety of projects and the application of technology has turned him into a smart building expert.
Will’s passion for delivering projects and managing client relationships has enabled him to progress over the years, and he’s now our Smart Building Controls Team Leader, currently supporting two of our Apprentices. He looks after high profile projects in both London and Cheshire, and also supports with the training and development of future engineers. Commenting on his experience at Intecho so far, Will said: “I feel fortunate to work here as we have fun, it’s a happy place to come into every day and there’s a great team spirit”.
Outside of work, you will find Will playing football, going the gym and chilling with friends.
Steve joined Intecho in 2018, leaving behind a big-five constructor to work for a company that cares about clients as much as contracts. He’s been involved in commercial building controls delivery as an electrical engineer, commissioning engineer and operations manager. He will handle your project from conception to handover through to ongoing maintenance. He’s passionate about automation and efficiency and believes that collaborative engineering is the route to a sustainable future.
Steve likes to spend his weekends with his 3 children walking in the hills.
Alan has been involved with control panel production most of his career. He was trained within a specialist section for ‘highly secure projects’ within GEC Plessey (which became a specialist division of Siemens).
Alan has been with Intecho since the very start and has been critical to the growth of the company.
“It gives me a real sense of pride knowing that much of our repeat and referral business is a result of our clients holding the control panels in high regard.” [He thinks clients come back because they love his control panels. Please don’t tell him any different.]
Outside of work, Alan is a keen cyclist and last year completed Lands’ End to John o’ Groats raising money for local charities.
Gohar has been part of the Intecho team for over 4 years and supports our residential building control projects.
Gohar grew up in a small village in Pakistan and from a young age loved technology and innovation. His passion for this grew when he attended university and studied Computer Engineering. When qualified, he joined the programming industry and has never looked back. Utilising his industry-leading knowledge, he has worked on huge projects in the UAE and Oman as a KNX Programmer, gaining valuable experience and constantly developing his skills. Now focusing on high-end residential projects throughout Cheshire and London, Gohar works closely with our Project Manager to deliver seamless controls that bring our client’s visions to life.
In his spare time, you will find Gohar watching and playing cricket, making YouTube tutorials on programming and enjoying long walks.
Bart started his career as an Electrician over 17 years ago and has worked at all levels, from an Apprentice to a Project Manager on some of the largest residential MDU projects in London.
Bart picked up his passion for technology when working on these huge projects and after much hard work, started to steer in the direction of audio visual and building controls. Having worked on multiple high-end projects in the UK and Europe, Bart has been responsible for the delivery of the projects as well as the programming and design of the AV and control systems.
In his spare time, Bart loves to discover new and interesting places and also loves tinkering with DIY projects (he’s currently building some new shelves at home!).
Will is one of our Apprentices and has been with the Intecho team for almost 3 years. He supports our commercial team with building controls and is often out on the road, supporting at sites down in London or throughout Cheshire.
Having found a passion for engineering at a young age, Will attended college and soon after found this Apprenticeship opportunity. After analysing the market, he understood how much demand there was for smart technology and knew this industry was right for him. Commenting on his time here at Intecho so far, Will said: “I really enjoy working at Intecho. One of my favourite things is having the opportunity to support amazing projects like the Ivy Asia, St James Quarter in Edinburgh and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. I am continually enhancing my skills and building my knowledge and I am looking forward to what the future holds.”.
In his spare time, you will find Will watching his favourite team, Everton, as well as playing the sport himself. He also loves going to watch gigs and attending his local gym.
